A number of themed entertainment zones and activities will also be open throughout the weekend, including the regular Steve Paske Health Zone SPHZ , which has a key focus on the health and wellbeing of gender diverse communities. This year, to cope with increased demand, Northern Pride are extending the festival to include more satellite events at venues around Newcastle. The full schedule for these functions will be announced in the coming months, but they are expected to span from the start of June until the end of July. Friday evening will offer some main stage entertainment, Saturday will be the main Pride day, with more entertainment on Sunday.

This year, the leading event attracted more than 73, people, while a further , around the world listened live with Pride World Radio. Organised by regional LGBT charity Northern Pride, the tenth annual festival saw 17 satellite events take place on the countdown to the main 21 — 23 July weekend, which saw record numbers march through the city in the annual Pride parade, and tens of thousands more braving the rain for the free entertainment at the Town Moor. Despite the weekend of wet weather, Newcastle Pride exceeded our expectations in terms of visitor numbers — with a record-breaking 16, marching in the parade and more than 50, lining the streets in support. The substantial economic impact Pride has on the city not only highlights the importance of major events such as this, but also showcases Newcastle as the open, welcoming city that it is.
Went to all the bars in this area. Rarely go into the Gay Scene in the City. The Gay community needs significant investment, its tired, dirty, smelly and generally unpleasant. However the pubs are typical gay hangouts and if you look past the grime and expect low standards then you will have a smashing time. All this said Gay Pride was well organized and I really had a good night out, topped off with the tragedy of the Newcastle gay village.
